Tasting at Maine Street Meats

Saturday we were up in Rockland, Maine for a tasting hosted by Maine Street Meats. It was a gloomy day, perfect for locals to wander in to the State of Maine Cheese facility, home to a certified kitchen for making cheese. Maine Street Meats has a small shop here, but plans to expand to a different location up the road in the near future.

Maine Street Meats cures and smokes their own meats, bakes fabulous crusty bread, creates sandwiches and meals to go, and house-made pates and terrines, just to mention a few. The shop smells heavenly.

Marika Kuzma (former owner of Aurora Provisions, Portland) created a couple of amazing taste offerings to entice customers. One was a duck roulette on crusty bread topped with our Necessary Cherry jam. A truly unique and unbelievably delicious combination.

A second equally delicious appetizer was made with Cabot cheddar cheese on crisp crackers topped with Ergo Elderberry Jamly. Both combinations would be a hit at any special get together you might be organizing.
